Hiking along the Grand Canyon South RimGrand Canyon Air & Hiking Tour

7 hours

$469 per person

Enjoy the same scenic, narrated flight over Sedona to the Grand Canyon including the over-flight, as on the Deluxe South Rim Tour.

Upon landing, your guide will take you in one of Westwind Air Service’s private vans for a trip inside the park where you will have the opportunity to view the Grand Canyon from the ground. You and your Wilderness First Response Certified (WFR) guide from Arizona Outback Adventures will be dropped off directly at the trailhead to begin your hike into the Grand Canyon.

Begin your guided hike with a series of switch backs before arriving at Ooo-Ahh Point. At this aptly named lookout point, the views open up to the panorama of the Grand Canyon in all directions.

Next, you will continue on to a picnic area at Cedar Ridge, dropping almost 1,200 feet in elevation and through more than 40 million years of geological history. This scenic trail is unique to the Grand Canyon in that it traverses along a ridgeline instead of descending a side canyon, allowing for unobstructed views and excellent photo opportunities. As you descend through the layers of rock strata, your guide will provide information on the Grand Canyon’s history, ecosystems, and geology. After lunch and time to explore Cedar Ridge, you will begin your ascent to the rim to visit the Yaki Point overlook.

Afterwards, our vans will take you back to the airport for your one-hour flight back to Phoenix.

The most popular of all is the world famous Skywalk. This architectural marvel extends 65 feet over the edge of the Canyon, with its 4,000 foot depth right beneath your feet. As you venture out on to this amazing structure and look straight down through the glass floor, you can't help but feel like you are a part of the Grand Canyon.

Just outside the Skywalk you will experience the Hualapai Indian Culture through Native American Performances and an Indian Village, ancient dwellings constructed in the traditional methods by local tribes. This area of the Canyon, known as Eagle Point, due to the formation in the Canyon walls that resembles an Eagle spreading her wings, offers spectacular views of Grand Canyon.

The next stop on the tour will be Guano Point. This location offers one of the most scenic places to enjoy lunch (provided with the tour) at an outdoor eating area on a plateau surrounded on three sides by the magnificent Grand Canyon. After your lunch, enjoy a leisurely hike along a trail that extends out into the Canyon and  spectacular views.

The highlight of most visitors’ trip to the West Rim is the Helicopter ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. After a 10 minute flight to the bottom, you will disembark the helicopter and board a pontoon boat for a boat ride along the Colorado River. You will be able to experience the Grand Canyon as you look straight up the Canyon walls, giving you a unique perspective of the beauty of this magnificent wonder. After the pontoon boat ride, you will board the helicopter for the 10 minute flight back to the top of the Grand Canyon.

Or you can experience the West Rim FREESTYLE.

Our FREESTYLE ADVENTURE TOUR includes the following components:

  • Scenic, narrated flight to the West Rim
  • Passes for West Rim shuttle bus
  • Lunch coupon
  • Skywalk ticket

Upon arriving at the West Rim you will receive your tickets for the above inclusions.  Visit the overlooks, skywalk and have lunch on your own – Freestyle!  Your pilot will give you the time to be back at the airport for the return flight.
